225 Years of the Constitution

 

2012 marks the 225th anniversary of signing of the United States Constitution by the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia (September 17, 1787). Following the Constitutional Convention, the document was sent to the states for ratification.

September 17th of each year is celebrated as “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.”

Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution on December 7, 1787, making it the "First State."
