Full-time ELI students have the same borrowing privileges as matriculated UD students, but they need to be manually activated in the library's system. There are two options for activating borrowing privileges:
Email a list of student names, ID numbers, and local addresses to Renee Pauls (email@example.com) a week in advance. Students will not need to take any additional action. If you cannot include local addresses, students will need to come to the Circulation Desk and give an address.
If students need to use their borrowing privileges immediately, send them to the Circulation Desk and staff can activate them on the spot.
At the SMDC, ELI students can check out equipment, reserve and use the production studios, and use software on the computers. Staff at the service desk can provide individualized help with multimedia projects. Students can also check out movies from the SMDC's film and video collection.
If the library does not have access to a book or an article, a student can request it through Interlibrary Loan. For books, there will be a link to request through Interlibrary Loan in DELCAT. For articles, first try the Get it link. If that link says there is no online copy, use the Interlibrary Loan button to request it. Students will need a UDelNet ID to use this service.
Printing, Copying, and Scanning
ELI students have to use their Flex account to print. If they already have Flex dollars on their UD ONECards, it will automatically deduct when they print. If not, they can add Flex dollars (cash only) at the machine near the Circulation Desk. Printing costs 4 cents for a double-sided b&w page and 5 cents for a single-sided b&w page. Color printing is only available in the SMDC, and costs a dollar per page.
There are copy machines on the first floor in the Reference Room and downstairs in the SMDC. These machines cost ten cents per page and only take Flex. Alternatively, students can scan documents and send them to the printer, which will be cheaper (same prices listed above).
Scanners are available in the Information Room (across from the Reference Desk) and downstairs in the SMDC. Scanning is free, and documents can be sent to email or saved to a flashdrive.
