The Library, Museums, and Press will be piloting two digital badges this fall as part of the wider digital badging initiative at UD. The two badges will focus on Research Data Management and Digital Storytelling with Video. These badges are free and open to any current UD students, faculty, or staff.
Digital badges recognize the co-curricular learning that takes place in the library by requiring participants to complete individual work that showcases their knowledge and experiences. The badges build off of the popular library workshop program. Each badge includes two workshops plus asynchronous learning and an individual project. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a digital badge which can be linked in social media profiles, digital portfolios, cover letters and more.
The skills that students learn in the library can be directly applied to future job searches, but also to future learning at UD. Students can turn in their digital badge as proof of completion, much like when students finish a tutorial or have a staff member sign a research log.
Enrollment is open for both badges for the fall 2024 cohort. We encourage faculty to share this information with students or include links to the badges in Canvas. Questions can be directed to Maria Barefoot, Online Learning Librarian.
