Welcome to the University of Delaware Library, Museums & Press
In addition to the wages that you will receive, employment at the UD Library allows you to develop and enhance your employment record while pursuing your studies. As a student assistant, you will gain valuable experience working in a busy public service department. Evaluations of your performance will be conducted periodically and kept on file. Conscientious performance of duties will reflect on evaluations and you may use references from the Library to help you in seeking employment after graduation.
As a student assistant, you will assist staff in providing service to faculty, students, and other staff. Your performance will have a direct and immediate impact on library users. It is imperative that we maintain the excellence that the Library and the University community have come to expect from us. Your active participation will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.
You will also be our representative to the public. Your attitude and performance at the service desk will have a great impact on users’ overall library experience and their view of the University of Delaware Library. In order to ensure the successful fulfillment of our mission, there are certain policies and procedures that need to be followed. Please familiarize yourself with the contents of this student manual. Failure to follow these policies and procedures could result in dismissal.
Once again, thank you for joining the University of Delaware Library, Museums & Press. The entire staff welcomes you and looks forward to working with you. We hope that your experience here is rewarding and educational.
