When is Constitution Day?

"Constitution Day and Citizenship Day" is observed each year on September 17 to commemorate the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787 and to “recognize all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens.”

"A popular Government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but as Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: And a people who mean to be their own Governors, must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives."
– James Madison, "Letter to W. T. Barry" (August 4, 1822)
