Special Collections houses a wealth of material that supports the research and teaching needs of faculty and students in Art Conservation. Of particular interest are:

  • books and manuscripts on the history of chemistry
  • an extensive collection of trade catalogs and advertising ephemera from the eighteenth century to the present day
  • fine press and artist's books
  • manuscript and published recipe and cookbooks
  • an extensive collection on the history and technology of printing and papermaking, including archival materials, sample books, and technical manuals
  • Delaware city and town directories
  • the history and technology of photography, including original photographs in a variety of formats
  • publishing history
  • handwriting and calligraphy manuals
  • original artwork and realia
  • an extensive collection of historic maps, posters, and prints
