Resources for Standards

Welcome to the Standards Guide. Use the tabs at left to select specific resources.

A technical standard is an established norm or requirement. It is usually a formal document that establishes uniform engineering or technical criteria, methods, processes and practices. Standards allow for interchangeability of parts, system interoperability, and they ensure quality, reliability and safety.

The Morris Library does not, as a general rule, collect individual standards. If you need a particular standard for research purposes please contact the subject librarian.

We do provide online access to the complete set of ASTM Standards through ASTM Compass. To determine if individual standards from other organizations are in the collection, a title search in DELCAT is the best option. If you only have the standard number, then you can use the ANSI Webstore (located on the "Standards Aggregator Databases" tab of this Guide) to search by the standard number and obtain the title of the standard. You may also use our Interlibrary Loan service to request to borrow a copy of any standard not in our collection.

From Off Campus

Most Library online resources can be accessed from off campus by current UD faculty, staff, and students. When using links on these pages, you may be prompted for your UDelNetID and password. If you encounter problems accessing Library databases, e-journals, or e-books, use the UD proxy login page.
