SWIVLs and Classroom Observations

How To Record Lessons

Step One

Power on the Swivl by holding down the on/off button.

Step Two

Power on the primary marker (microphone) by holding down the power button. The power light on the marker and the Swivl robot should both turn solid green, to pair them.

  • The primary marker will be the one you turn on first. This is the marker the presenter should wear. The SWIVL follows the primary marker as opposed to the additional markers.
  • The secondary marker is the one you turn on second to record additional audio during the lesson/presentation. The Swivl robot will not follow this marker.
  • One presenter and large group instruction: Use the secondary markers to record student voices. Place the secondary microphone on a table where students will be working in groups or central location within classroom.
  • Two presenters: Use the secondary marker to record the second presenter’s voice. Put the secondary marker in the lanyard and give to the other presenter to wear around their neck.

Step Three

Place the robot in a place where it can always see the presenter and can capture students as much as possible.

Step Four

Press the record button on the device or press the record button on the side of the marker to begin recording.

Step Five

While recording check to see if the Swivl is still tracking the presenters voice and movement and the presenter is seen on the iPad screen or recording device.
