BMEG360: Engineering Junior and Senior Design

Focus on Standards and Patents

Resources for Standards and Patents

This guide serves to support the Engineering Junior and Senior Design courses (BMEG & MEEG) with information about searching for Standards and Patents.

This guide is by no means comprehensive; rather, it is intended to serve as a starting point for your research and assignments. For further assistance on finding Standards, contact William Simpson, or Sabine Lanteri, for assistance on finding Patents.

The Library does provide online access to the complete set of ASTM International standards through ASTM Compass *. To determine if individual standards from other Standards Developing Organizations are in the collection, a title search in DELCAT, the library catalog, is the best option. If you only know the standard designation/number, search for it in the ANSI Webstore (located on the "Standards Aggregator Databases" tab of this Guide) to search by the standard designation/number and obtain the title of the standard.

NOTE: The University of Delaware Library has paid subscriptions to both ASTM Compass and IEEE Xplore for specific standards and, upon request, ANSI can provide students enrolled in BMEG360 with complimentary access to selected international standards (ISO and IEC standard publications) for use in the course.  Provide your instructor with the complete ISO or IEC standard designation and your course instructor will contact the ANSI administrator and request the standard(s) for you.

From Off Campus

Most Library online resources can be accessed from off campus by current UD faculty, staff, and students. When using links on these pages, you may be prompted for your UDelNetID and password. If you encounter problems accessing Library databases, e-journals, or e-books, please consult the VPN and Proxy Server page or the Library Proxy FAQs page.
