Library, Museums and Press - New Faculty Orientation

Library Research Guides & Databases

Librarians create guides for courses of study, special research topics, and, by request, for specific classes or assignments. Guides are meant to be a carefully curated introduction to relevant resources and do not include all of the materials we have available. You can explore the research guides here. Reach out to your subject librarian to request a course guide that can be easily embedded into Canvas.

The Library, Museums and Press subscribes to hundreds of databases that encompass research articles, e-books, reference materials, data sets and statistics, primary resources, audio-visual materials, and government information. Below is an introductory sampler of the databases available. Please go to the Databases A-Z page to see full listings.

Manuscript and Archival Collection Finding Aids

Finding aids that describe and inventory the manuscript and other archivally-managed holdings of the University of Delaware Library Special Collections can be searched here: https://library.udel.edu/special/findaids/search. Searches can be filtered by date, name, subject, format, or collection category. Please contact Special Collections staff for more information about their holdings, or to request orientations or instruction for your students. Special Collections is located on the second floor of the Morris Library.

Books, serials, and other materials can be found using the library’s DELCAT Discovery.
