Alexander Gardner worked for the well-known photographer, Matthew Brady, and is known for his photographs of President Lincoln, the American Civil War, and and the execution of Lincoln's conspirators. Gardner was the only photographer allowed to photograph the execution of the conspirators on July 7, 1865.
