Professional Development Collection for New Faculty and Graduate Students

by Maria Barefoot on 2024-08-19T14:02:21-04:00 | 0 Comments

One of the benefits of the new catalog system, PRIMO, which we migrated to last summer, is the ability to create collections of books to share. Librarian Alison Wessel and Psychological and Brain Sciences faculty collaborated on a new list a materials focused on helping early career academics adjust and plan their careers. This collection, Professional Development for New Academics, includes 32 items in both print and electronic format.

I've personally read two of these items, Advice for New Faculty and The No Club: Putting a stop to women's dead-end work. Both books offered guidance that has helped shaped my decision-making during my academic career. If you're an early career faculty member or a graduate student preparing for a career in academia, you may find career changing advice in more than a few of these books.
