For the Syllabus - The State of Delaware Schools according to Local Educators

by Maria Barefoot on 2023-01-31T12:12:00-05:00 | 0 Comments

Delaware Today recently published an in-depth article that examines issues in Delaware schools through the lens of practicing teachers. The article, The state of Delaware schools according to local educators by Amy White, explores everything from the teacher pipeline, COVID related learning and developmental delays, and mental health issues. Each educator interviewed explains what these issues look like in the classroom and proposes possible solutions. This could be an excellent addition to any lesson on current issues in education. Fortunately, Delaware Today is a free magazine, so you can include this in your class using the link!

However, if you ever want to include articles for your classes that are not free online, we still have ways to help you include them in your classes! You can check to see if we have a subscription, and include the permalink in your course.  If we don't own the article, you can request a copy through Interlibrary Loan using the PDF request form and then add it to your course reserve list. The easiest way is to fill out the e-reserves online submission form. Once everything is uploaded, you'll get a link that you can add to your canvas class.

You may be wondering why you can't just add it to your Canvas course as a PDF? Well, the main reason is because of licensing agreements. Interlibrary Loan works through agreements with other libraries around the world. These agreements mean that we can get you almost anything you want, with the understanding that it's only for personal use. That's where course reserves comes in! Our course reserves team can handle all of the copyright agreements necessary to make the article available for your classes and these can be renewed each semester if needed. Feel free to reach out to me with questions!
